Also, many people are not aware that videotapes only have a very

limited lifespan of 10 to 20 years, depending on the conditions in which they are

stored and used.  We have seen many tapes with mould and mildew on them! 

 

DO YOU HAVE MOULDY TAPES?

We can usually clean your Mouldy VHS Video Tapes and rescue the footage

onto DVD with good results - the cost ranges between $15 and $40 (+ GST)

per tape, depending on the severity of the mould infestation.  Once the tape is

cleaned we can transfer to DVD at additional cost as outlined below.

 

Your valuable videos stored on these tapes can be lost if they are not transferred

The BUDGET Video to DVD Service gives you a direct transfer of ALL the video tape

Contents from beginning to end onto a DVD with NO editing. This means that any gaps

or static and other footage is also converted.  Use this option if you want us to do specific

editing and provide a menu with scene titles, as a next step later on.  (You can view this

Budget DVD and advise your specific editing instructions and 'in' and 'out' edit points in

minutes and seconds from your DVD display.  We can then provide a fully edited Master

DVD with Menu and Scene Titles which will be billed at our standard hourly based on the

time spent on your project).

 

The PREMIUM Video to DVD Service provides the additional basic editing services of

our Video Technicians who will view the tape contents and remove larger gaps, static

and other obvious unwanted footage such as TV programs for easier viewing. 

No customized menu is normally provided.

(Additional editing is also available, but we suggest you purchase the Budget DVD first,

then you can view this and advise your specific editing instructions and 'in' and 'out' edit

points in minutes and seconds from your DVD display.  We can then provide a fully edited

Master DVD with Menu and Scene Titles which will be billed at our standard hourly based

on the time spent on your project).

The BUDGET Film to DVD Service gives you a high quality low cost transfer of your

films which is adequate for most customers with film which is in good condition.

We use high quality transfer equipment and HD TV broadcast cameras to digitally

capture the film footage into our editing systems where we edit out gaps and enhance the

footage before transferring to a master DVD or digital movie file.

 

The PREMIUM Film to DVD Service provides the best possible transfer of film to DVD.

This service is recommended for TV Broadcast applications, Corporate Archives, and clients

who want the best possible conversion; or where the film is very fragile and cannot be

transferred by conventional methods.  The film is moved  through the scanning equipment

with rollers, so it is ideal for film that has damaged sprocket holes. Each frame is individually

digitally scanned and transferred into the  editing system where the footage is adjusted for

the correct frame rate and best possible image.  This process provides excellent focus, even

luminosity, no possibility of flicker, and has reduced cropping of the picture.

Videotape Repairs and Mould Removal

VHS Videotape Repairs

If your VHS or VHS-C Videotape is damaged we can often repair it for you and transfer

the contents to DVD, therefore salvaging most of what would have been lost. 

We can also repair Video 8, Hi8 and MiniDV Tapes - Contact us for a quote.

 

The most common repairs are:

  •   Tape has broken free from capstans
  •   Tape has broken or is mangled
  •   Cassette Case is broken or cracked
  •   Cassette Case has missing door or other parts
  •   Tape is frozen and will not play
  •   Cassette is ejected from the video player without playing
  •   Tape is mouldy or dirty

If we cannot repair your tape, we will return it to you at our cost.

We can also repair Video 8, Hi8 and MiniDV Tapes - Contact us for a quote.

Note:  Tapes that have suffered dampness, water or spill damage, high

temperatures, extreme heat or severe impact damage, or are mouldy,

are not always repairable.  We reserve the right to transfer your video tape

to a new cassette shell and to decline repairs that are ruled unreasonable by our

technicians.  Some times a tape may be damaged so badly that we have no option

but to cut the damaged tape and splice the cut ends together. This of course will

result in the loss of some of the material on the original tape, but we will keep this

to a minimum.
